Cantina Laredo’s New Menu + Cinco de Mayo Cocktails

Cantina Laredo is now a household name when it comes to Tex-Mex. Their first location opened in Addison in 1984 (it’s still there, just south of Belt Line Road), so Cantina Laredo now has an impressive 33 years under their sombrero. Originally opened by El Chico founder Gilbert Cuellar and his son, Gilbert Cuellar Jr, another Tex-Mex legend, Cantina Laredo now is owned and operated by Dallas Based CRO (Consolidated Restaurant Operations, Inc.), a privately held company.
An upscale fusion of Tex-Mex favorites and classic Mexican food, my family has visited Cantina Laredo for years. It was neat to find out that the Addison location was where it all began, and to chat with Chef Rambo about his passion for the food he prepares.

Cantina Laredo recently rolled out a new menu, featuring some new items as well as some old throwback dishes that were on their original 1984 Addison menu.

Some of the new features (available nationwide) include tapas, combo plates, burritos, and daily lunch specials.

The tapas section is entirely new and has 9 options for diners looking for smaller share-ables. I loved the Camaron y Chorizo Empanadas. They also have more tems like tamales, and flautitas.

When the restaurant first opened, combination plates were a big part of the menu. Customers have since continued to ask for these plates, so four combo platters served with beans and rice were reintroduced.

There are now 5 choices of gourmet burritos. Choose from pollo tinga, ground sirloin, chicken fajita, steak fajita, and chimichanga de pollo.

At lunch, they’re now offering a revamped lunch menu with weekday daily features starting at $7.99. You can get those from 11am to 3pm, Monday through Friday.

New specialty entrees including Vegetarian Portobello Fajitas, Bacon-wrapped Shrimp, and the Cascabel Ribeye made with Certified Angus Beef are sure to tempt you.

Enjoy happy hour Monday through Friday at CL from 4-6pm. You can get select half-priced apps, $2 domestic beers, $3 imports, $4 wells, $5 house margaritas, and $4 house wine.

Cantina Laredo has six stand-alone locations in North Texas locations: Addison (original), Dallas, Fort Worth, Frisco, Grapevine and Lewisville, plus outlets at both DFW International Airport and Dallas Love Field Airport.
